Canal du Centre
June 19th
There are many designated parking lots for the trails in France and we found one along the Canal du Centre near Santenay. Our ride took us down through Saint-Ledger-sur-Dhuene to the port of Saint-Julien-sur-Dheune for 40+km. The word sur means on, so these towns are on the Dhuene River but also along the Canal du Centre that runs nearby. It was great to sea boats and barges along the way. Until now there have been few probably because the barging season hadn't really begun in full force.
We had an aperitif at Le Carnot and noticed a parade of dogs going by. Mind you there are always dogs going by with their owners but this time there were too many not to wonder about. As we walked through the Place Carnot we found the answer as there was a dog training class going on under the gazebo.
