Another day, Another ride
June 18th
As I mentioned before the Voie Bleue bike route covers a lot of ground so we wanted to check out the section north and east of us between Losne and Auxonne. The port in Auxonne is where we met up with our friends Don and Patty two years ago when they were selling their beautiful barge Maria. We had traveled on the Maria several years ago and were sad to see her sold. This section of the trail turned out to be one that we didn't want to continue further on since it wasn't all on traffic-free trails and the surface was very bumpy and unstable for us. We retraced our path down to the canal and rode into Dole for a coffee break at one of the most picturesque spots we have found. The canal-side cafe has an abundance of flowers and atmosphere which somehow makes the coffee taste even better.

For the first few years in Beaune we rented an apartment on Rue Paradis where the cute little restaurant Petit Paradis is located. The restaurant is closed in August so for a few years we weren't able to get a reservation. Tonight we arrived to a full house but they had our reserved table ready. We both ordered the same items, a white asparagus entree and seared duck breast for our main dish. Many of the restaurants have great wine lists by the glass which we like so we can try different ones. We both liked the Chablis the best and were about to leave after our dinner and two glasses when the rain came pouring down. What to do? Order another glass and wait out the storm. Bien Sur!
