A Sweet Meet with old Friends
June 8th
On Sundays many restaurants are closed but Beaune has a fabulous Saturday Market where you can buy just what you need to make a great Salade Nicoise...or anything else you would want to cook. We found little fingerling potatoes, ruby red cherry tomatoes, a head of leafy green lettuce, fresh green beans and olives from the different vendors. Rain was in the forecast and it came just as we finished most of our shopping so we ducked into the enclosed area to find a few lunch items.

Our plan for the day was to ride along the Burgundy Canal but we had a little glitch with the car. Upon leaving Beaune a bright red warning light flashed on and then the word "Consumption" appeared. We didn't know what to make of it so we called the Info Line at our leasing company. They arranged an appointment at the Renault garage for later in the day. Because we were preoccupied with this problem we missed our turn and ended up a lot further down the road. It was lunch time and fortunately we drove by a picnic table and stopped to chow down on our goodies from the morning market. Time was getting late so we abandoned our ride for the day and drove back to Beaune to the car dealer for our appointment.
The car mechanic said all was good so we went on our merry way to get ready to meet up with our friends Don and Patty. We first met while on their barge several years ago and have managed to catch up with them a few times in France and also in Tucson where they spend the winters. Alas they have sold the barge Maria and are just traveling in Europe this year. It was great catching up and reliving the wonderful trip we had with them.
