Rainy Day Chores
September 13th
With the arrival of the predicted rain we started the day with our usual yogurt, fruit and a fresh croissant from down the street. After 2 loads of wash we walked down to the launderette to use the dryer. There was a nice young man struggling with the machine so we tried to help but he spoke no English and our laundry room French is pretty non-existent. We struggled with the payment with the dryer and the machine ate our money the first time as well so we just had to add another 2 Euros. We tried to explain that and I guess he got the message because he put in more money and Voila it worked. I think the owner will be making a little extra cash today.
Laundry done...our lunch menu today...Gazpacho, Jambon Persille, Fruit, Cheese, Tomatoes and a Baguette. Tres Bon!
One of the funny things that we discovered today after the rain was that the globs of black stuff on the sidewalk that we thought was dog poop was actually moss from the tile roofs. We've been very careful not to step on these little puffy balls and were a little miffed that the dog owners weren't picking up their dog's poop. Joke's on us!
Tonight we went to Le Petit Paradis for dinner. We did't really recall having a great meal here last year but since we had stayed on this little street for many times we wanted to give it another chance. I have to say we were not disappointed! Our dinner was excellent from the amuse bouche to the dessert! We ordered a bottle of wine from the region of the Rhone we stayed in last year and it was incredible as well. Many restaurants in France offer a prix fixe menu and some only offer that but we have figured a way around it so we don't end up over eating. Usually you can order an entree and plat or a plat and dessert. Our trick is one of us orders the entree/plat and the other the plat/desset and we share the entree and dessert when it is served. I can't believe it's taken us this long to figure it out! Dumb Americans?
