A Visit to the Royal Chateau Amboise

We have been to Amboise in the past but for some reason have not visited the chateau. We are in Tours and the forecast was for some rain so we decided this was the day to tour the chateau in Amboise. The Chateau is massive and occupies a good portion of the old town of Amboise.
Basically the Chateau, located above the Loire River, was confiscated by the monarchy in the 15th century. It became the favorite residence of the royalty at that time. It too, like many of the Chateaux, have been extensively rebuilt and furnished by whomever owns the property. When touring the chateau there is a free iPad that shows how the rooms were furnished in their time. The gardens are very nice but the views from the castle of the surrounding area are a highlight.
