Lots of Locks

August 21st

Today's early morning ride took us from Chagny south toward Saint Leger sur Dheune, again along the Canal du Centre.  We were greeted by some Americans on board the hotel barge Amaryllis. One of the fellows actually went to WSU so gave us a "Go Cougs" which was much appreciated in lieu of the fact some of the Pac12 schools conspired to tear apart the conference.  Can you tell we're a little bitter?

More about the Amaryllis...I looked it up and it is one of the most luxurious barges in Burgundy.  It has a private chef, chauffeur for tours, open bar, bikes, air-conditioning and a plunge pool on deck which is where our American friends were as we rode by.  The price? A mere 8,000 Euros per person for 1 week.












We continued along for 40+ kilometers stopping to take photos of the locks and ourselves.😆





























We decided to have dinner in our apartment since not many restaurants are open on Mondays and we do like to stay in occasionally.  I had purchased gazpacho in a carton the other day, a quiche lorraine at the patisserie earlier in the day and melon at the Chagny market so we were set.  We stopped by our favorite fromagerie and picked up a bottle of Rose that we discovered there last year that cost 9.50 Euros then, 10.50 Euros now.  Prices have gone up pretty much everywhere it seems.
