We arrived in Beaune last evening and got settled into our home for the next month. We love all the biking, scenery, history and gastronomy of this area. Our apartment is lovely although there are some challenges that we haven't had in the past but also some extra amenities we haven't had before. The challenges are mainly stairs...50 to be exact to get into the apartment and another 15 up to the bedroom. Luckily the master bedroom up a spiral staircase has the ensuite bathroom. The extras that we are enjoying are a dishwasher, a washing machine (no dryer however), an extra bathroom at the main level, a comfortable couch, a large dining table and to Jay's surprise a Nespresso machine with an attached frother for his lattes. I guess doing those extra stairs, even after biking several hours most days, will be good for us?

Our first bike ride is always the same because it is our favorite ride from Beaune to Santenay through the vineyards and the lovely wine villages along the Voie des Vignes route. I have taken photos through the years so today I just enjoyed the ride, even in the heat! Below are a few favorites from the past.
Dinner was at the Brasserie Le Carnot near the main square. We have liked it in the past and it was just as good as we remembered. Jay had escalope du veau and I opted for the Salade Bourguignon that had several specialties of the region in one bowl. The jambon persille, goat cheese and crispy fried escargot were an explosion in my mouth. I guess you could say I liked it? We ordered a Rose from Provence that had an interesting label. Our friend Chris at home has a son whose partner's name is Lou Lou, so of course we had to have a toast to them. Salute, Storrie and Lou Lou!
