Brittany or Bust
August 9th
Last year we discovered leasing a car instead of renting. The advantages are major but I believe you have to be able to lease for at least 21 days. We again leased from Renault EuroDrive and actually have the same car, different color and gas instead of a hybrid. The cost is half of a rental, all insurance is included, you receive a brand new vehicle, pick-up and drop-off take about 10 minutes with no long lines in which you have to wait. This morning we took our shuttle to the TT Car Transit at Charles De Gaulle Airport which is located away from all the arrival and departure areas. Once we were given the keys we loaded up our car and started off toward Dinan in Brittany. We had smooth sailing until about an hour out when an accident ahead held up traffic for an hour and a half. Oh well...I spent some time perusing restaurants in Dinan and emailed a reservation request and received a reply so at least we knew we had a place for dinner. I should mention here that we both have Orange eSim cards in our phones so have plenty of call, text and data with our new French phone numbers.
We finally arrived to our home for the next 8 days, Au Fil de L'eau (which means Over the Water). It is located just across the Rance River from Dinan in Lanvallay. There is a stone walking bridge a few yards away for us to cross over the river and make our way UP HILL to the bastide village. Lots of shops and restaurants can be found in the village and our apartment has a fantastic view across the river to the walled city.
