Do you know the way to Nolay
August 23rd
We have often ridden up to Nolay from Santenay but it is a constant uphill for almost 9km. I told Jay that it's like being in spin class because there's no coasting. On the other hand the way down is pretty fun. A little parking lot in Meursault was our starting point for our 46km roundtrip ride. Cycling through the vineyards along the Route de Grand Cru is always beautiful and there are too many gorgeous photo ops to stop for them all. I told Jay we will take a drive one day so I can capture all that I want to without worrying about getting back to avoid the heat of the day. I did manage to grab a few pictures so we have something to show for our ride. I do love my motor on my Bike Friday especially today when I had to go to level 4 at one point to make it up the hill. Even with using my motor I burned nearly 1000 calories...bring on the wine!🍷
We used to be able to ride a little more leisurely leaving mid-morning stopping for lunch and returning mid-afternoon. Perhaps next week when it is cooler we will be able to go back to that schedule. For the time being we have ridden early and returned in time for lunch so here's a photo of today's lunch special "a la maison Gorham."
