Le Doubs 🚲 and La Ciboulette 🍴🍷

August 31st

Today was a bit of a drive back to Baume-les-Dames where we stayed a few years ago.  We started out riding along the Doubs River and planned to ride back to the car but found a train station a little further down the trail instead.  We took the train from I'lsle-sur-Doubs after riding 40km.  The town has a little canal running through it and reminds me of Brugge in Belgium (on a very small scale).  The scenery was lovely as usual and we stopped along the way to enjoy the views.

We reserved dinner at a cute little restaurant next to the laundry that I use in Beaune.  La Ciboulette was closed for most of August but I noticed the "overt" sign out front so stepped in and made the reservation for the next evening at 7:30pm, using only French I might add. Jay tried to get me to say a complete sentence like, Je voudrais une réservation pour demain à dix-neuf heures et demi, s'il vous plaît, which would be very proper but I usually ended up with a curtailed version. I was able to get my meaning across because when we showed up they had our table all ready. The dinner was very interesting in presentation and quite flavorful but the wine was the real star of the evening...a delicious Haute Cote du Beaune.
