Go Cougs!
Sept 10th
I'm sure you all know we are avid WSU Cougar fans so I had to start today's post with a shout out to the Cougs with an upset win over 19th ranked Wisconsin! Yes, Go Cougs indeed!!!
Back to France...We took the train again this morning to the village of Sorgues and rode north on a fabulous section of the bike trail to Caderousse and back for a 40km ride. We picnicked in the park along the ancient wall that encloses Caderousse and had coffee at a little corner cafe. If you have traveled in France, or anywhere really, finding a restroom, WC, toilette, etc. can be challenging. Add to that a language barrier and different levels of hygiene in each establishment and you have a bit of stress in completing the project. This particular day I found the toilette easily but the sign on the door said you needed a key so I went back to the bar and the lovely waitress handed me the key with a smile. I have to say I love the idea of a locked women's restroom because this one was spotless and odor free! Our return ride to Sorgues was with the wind at our backs so we made really good time. As we rode up to the train station the train was just pulling in but our track was on the other side. We raced up to the elevator, got in, ran across the bridge to the elevator on the other side and as the door opened for us to exit the train pulled out! Luckily there was another train in an hour so we sat on the bench and planned our next ride and discussed all the world problems and solving none. 😏

Our coffee break in Caderousse |
I did my research for this night's dinner at the quaint little Ma Belle Cuisine. We were in the mood for Italian and Ma's had great reviews on google and trip advisor so off we went. Jay ordered shrimp that was served with a small green salad and pasta and I ordered the tagliatelle carbonara. Both plates were beautifully presented with a red rose atop. My rose was actually sitting in an egg that had been cracked in half. After removing the rose I discovered the egg was still in the shell so I surmised I was to dump the egg over the warm pasta and stir it into the mix. What a unique way to serve carbonara...maybe I'll try this at home?
