A Grande Cafe
This morning we decided to head north out of Tain l'Hermitage and ride out and back for about 40km. We stopped in the town of Sarras at a little cafe on a busy corner but it had a lovely view of a very old clock tower. We are always surprised when we order our coffee to see what turns up. Today it was a great grande cafe and only cost 1.50 Euros. We found picnic tables around the corner at a public park and set up our buffet of cheese, sausage, fruit, chips and cookies. We had fun watching little tractors pulling trailers filled with bins of grapes from the vineyard up on the hill down to the winery just across the parking lot from where we were having our lunch. There are so many little wine operations all around these villages and we are lucky to be here this time of year to see all the activity.
We loved our dinner so much two nights ago we returned to Le Quai and boy were we glad! If we liked what we ordered the first time the second time was even better! We started with a shared seared tuna appetizer and moved onto different fish courses. Jay had what they called Maigre but we couldn't actually find an english equivalent. It looked like Chilean Seabass and had a slightly sweet taste. I ordered the seabass which is very different than the Chilean kind but just as delicious! We were given another table with a fabulous view of the old bridge and the river.
A very Grande Cafe indeed!
