What Comes First...The Chicken or the Egg?
August 19th
We drove to Dole and took the train to St-Vit and rode along the Doubs River and the Canal du Rhone au Rhin for 30km to Besançon. The trail is excellent and there is a picnic area at 15km in the town of Boussieres. There is a tunnel with a cool waterfall at one end on the canal. We got caught in a little rain just before reaching the train station. The Gare in Besançon is up on a hill and it took us a while to find our way but eventually we made it just in time to wait for an hour for the next train. Oh well, people watching is always fun. One bit of info to pass on is that I am able to use the SNCF Connect Ap on my iPhone to purchase the tickets. It's super easy, I just fill in the form and hit the Apple Pay button and voila! The bar code goes into my wallet for easy access. The tickets are pretty cheap for these short rides, around 5 Euros each.

Dinner at Le Bacchus again. We both started with the egg entree Ouefs en Meurette, mine cooked in a Chardonnay sauce and Jay had the traditional method cooked in Pinot Noir. Both are delicious and it seems mostly available only in the Burgundy area. For our main courses Jay had the supreme volaille (chicken) and I chose the Dorade over risotto. So I guess the egg comes before the chicken? At least in French restaurants.😂
