Le Petit Bonheur

August 4th

Today we checked out of our Paris apartment, took our car shuttle (Inter Service Prestige) to the Renault Euro-Drive Center at Orly Airport to pick up our leased car. We have a cute little Renault Arkana in a gorgeous blue for the next 2 months. Leasing is the way to go if you are staying more than 30 days. We paid less than half the price of a rental plus the insurance is all included. The car is a brand new automatic with all the bells and whistles. Score!!!

Getting to Beaune in Burgundy is a snap from Orly.  Just follow the signs to get onto the A6 and continue until you get to Beaune.  It's about a 3 hour drive.  The great thing about driving the large toll roads in France is there are numerous Aires (Rest Areas) complete with food and gas.  In the past we have encountered some difficulty purchasing gas but this time the pump was easy to figure out and we could use our Visa with no problems.  Some of the Aires have large restaurants with different areas where you can get cheese plates, sandwiches or full meals.  Others just have a quick sandwich pickup which is what we usually do to get back on the road.

Once we arrived in Beaune we made a quick stop at our favorite supermarket E Leclerc, just off the A6, to pick up some groceries for the next few days.  We checked into our lovely studio where we have stayed in the past and settled in before dinner at La Monge around the corner.

Jay had never had Steak Tartar so decided
to give it a try and I was anxious to have my
first Salade Chèvre of this trip.

So happy to be back in our "petit bonheur" (the name given to our rental by the owner) which translates to "little happiness."😊
