A Typical Summer Day in Paris
July 31st
Our day began with a little glitch in our air-conditioning, it quit working and of course on a Sunday there is nothing to do. Our lovely care-taker, Mr. Naseem, came to take a look and said he would have someone come tomorrow to fix it. We are lucky to be on the ground floor in an old stone building so it has stayed fairly cool. Because of this little problem we were stuck at the apartment for a portion of the day but managed to get out and about for a stroll around town once again.
We started down Boulevard Saint-Germain until we came to the Abbey of Saint Germain des Pres where we turned the corner to have lunch at Cafe Bonaparte. Our waiter was a very friendly man and made us feel very welcome. We walked along until we reached the Seine and found a group dancing swing along side the river. The day was quite warm so stopped to enjoy the dancers and a glass of rose. Walking further along the river to reach Ile Saint-Louis which has a quiet vibe and beautiful buildings to admire. We finished off our 6+mile trek back at our apartment in time to get ready for dinner at the quaint little cafe Au 35 at 35 Rue Jacob. We had passed by earlier in the day and noticed gazpacho and sole meunière on the special board and quickly made a reservation. We were introduced to this lovely little place by Wenatchee friends, Dale and Gail Foreman, a few years ago and it did not disappoint!
Tomorrow we visit the Musee de l'Orangerie which has an exhibition of Monet's lilies which I'm sure will be fantastic!
