August 8th
First on the agenda was to visit the tourist office to see if we could glean more info about biking in Burgundy. Inside we found some bike info but also a free museum about the different Climats of Burgundy. There are over 1200 plots of land that have different sizes, slopes, exposures to sun, elevations and moisture levels that give the grapes their distinct, individual characteristics.
There were great displays and a video but so much information we will have to go back to take it all in. The wines in this area are classified at one of four levels...region, village, premier cru and grand cru with grand cru being the most expensive.
The Centre Ville of Beaune is quite picturesque and a walk around town calls for many photos.
