On the road 🚗

May 22nd

Our departure from Paris hit a little snag as we waited for about 20 minutes for a FreeNow driver to accept our reservation.  Jose, from Brazil, was our driver and managed to weave through the streets seamlessly and deposited us at our TT Eurodrive location at Orly Airport to pick up our car.  This is the 3rd time we have leased through Renault Eurodrive and it is sooooo easy!  Once you complete the paper work on-line you just show up and your brand new car is ready, all insurance included.  We have leased the same Renault Arkana for 3 years, blue the first year, black the second and this year a pearl white.  It's the perfect size to fit all of our gear and small enough to park in the minute spaces we encounter. I think small is very french...small parking spaces, small tables in restaurants, small trash containers in the rooms and small elevators.

A cloud burst came along blurring our view of the road for a bit and we almost had to pull over.  It passed fairly quickly and we were able to unload our car at the Saumur B&B without getting wet. We have stayed here twice before when it was owned by two men, Didier and Eric and have loved the accommodations and location.  The new owners, Florence and Christian, are a delightful couple and they made some welcome changes especially in the garage where we store our bikes.  There is now a code so we can come and go whenever we want.  The B&B name Bulles de Loire in french literally means "Loire bubbles."  Christian told us that the bubbles are for the bubbles in wine and that bulles in french can mean to rest.

We walked around town and snapped a few photos of this special place.

Florence made a dinner reservation for us at the Bistrot de la Place just up the street.  Jay had delicious terraine and pork for his main course and I chose the chicken. Both were delicious. A good choice for our first night in Saumur.

We're hoping to get on the bikes tomorrow!
