Mur d'Amour...and more

This morning we planned out our day to visit a few new places along with another visit up to Montmartre.  I read about the "Wall of Love" (Le mur des je t'aime in French) which is located near the Sacred Coeur so off we went to discover it.  We were able to take the subway to the stop nearest to the wall but when we started up the stairs to exit we climbed, and climbed and climbed.  My Apple Watch recorded 19 flights of stairs at the end of the day and I'm sure most of them were getting out of the metro!  FYI...the metro stop is Abbesses...stay clear if you have trouble doing stairs! The trek was worth the climb up...the wall is composed of 612 tiles on which the words "I love you" are written 311 times in 250 different languages. We were not the only ones to visit this site on this beautiful morning in Paris.

Next on the agenda was the Parc Monceau and the Musee Nissim de Camondo...both worth a visit.  We strolled through the park on our way to the museum.  The mansion was built from 1911 to 1914 for Count Moise de Camondo and later given as a museum in honor of his son Nissim, who had been killed in World War l.  More tragedy followed a few years later when Moise's daughter and her family were sent to Auschwitz and all died there except Moise's widow who escaped to a villa in the south of France.  There are still living members today of the Camondo family.  The mansion is an amazing collection of furniture and art.

Dinner at Le Precope was a treat in a lovely dining room.

We shared the delicious mussels for lunch.
