Morning chores and afternoon stroll

May 21st

Today was a day of less activity because we needed to find a launderette to do our laundry. Luckily, Julise Laverie was just around the corner from Rue de Buci on Rue de Siene a few minutes walk from our apartment.  The washing machines take 45 minutes but the dryer only about 10 or 15 so we were done in a little over an hour.  The cafe across the street was a perfect place to wait, have a coffee and people watch.

Since we leave Paris tomorrow we needed to pack up most of our belongings and we decided to finish up the food in the frig for lunch...quiche and an orange with our favorite Bonne Maman buttery cookies for dessert.

Once we finished our projects we walked around the neighborhood again and went inside two of the amazing churches, L'Elgise Saint-Sulpice and the Abbey Saint-Germain-des-Pres.  What a difference in size and decor.  Saint-Sulpice is vast and quite stark in comparison to the colorful more cozy (dare I say?) Saint-Germain.  The organ in Saint-Sulpice has 6,600 pipes and organists from around the world come to Paris just to hear this organ. I know my organ playing friend Gail would agree and has visited many times.  We were lucky enough to hear someone practicing while there and it is an amazing and moving experience.
